My goal

My goal is to make it easier for people around the world to understand the science behind COVID-19 and the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) that causes it. It is very important during this difficult time to understand what science is and what it can tell us about COVID-19!

Remember that scientists have often warned us of inevitable future pandemics, making it even more important to use science to protect us.

Beyond Science: Ethical and Social Considerations

Given that this pandemic is unprecedented—at least for those in industrialized nations—it brings challenges that extend beyond the realm of science, particularly in ethics. I do not mean to suggest that measures like isolation or social distancing should be implemented without thoughtful consideration, as the associated costs can sometimes be even more harmful than the direct effects of the virus. My sole aim is to help people understand science, empowering society to make well-informed decisions and avoid the tragic consequences that can arise from misinterpreting what science is, what it does, and what it truly knows.
